We love visiting new cities (and taking city breaks in our old favourites). We've been lucky enough to visit many cities over the years and stay in some of the most romantic and stimulating cities in the world. We are passing on our thoughts and tips about what makes a good city break and how to get the best out of your city breaks.

City Break in Rome - Noise, Excitement and History. Possibly our favourite city breaks - Rome is a city offering everything (apart from a beach) for the ideal city break. Culture balances with street life. History tempered by the night life and restaurants. Top City Breaks in Rome Tip - Visit San Clemente (just North of the Coliseum). It's a 12th century church where you can go down and down to see the older churches it was built on until you reach a 3rd Century Roman Street. More about a Rome City Break

A City Break in Florence - Small but perfectly formed. If you only have time for a very short city break, think about the stunning Italian city of Florence (or Firenze as the Italians call it and probably so should we). Top Florence City Break Tip - climb the 463 steps to walk around the inside of the cupola at the top of The Duomo if you aren't scared of heights. If you are, then spend an extra hour in the Uffizi. Why Wendy and Joey?

Well, Wendy tends to like find where the action is in a city. She wants a city break with lots of things to do. "I can rest when I get home" is her mantra. Joey is an old romantic. He likes city breaks where you stroll in a quiet park, visit the city's museums and finding romantic restaurants for a quite meal "a deux". Between us you should get a pretty good view of a city and it might help you chose the best city break for you.

On each page you'll find a bit of information about the city and then some advice about how to get the most out of your city break from Wendy and from Joey.

Guides

We strongly recommend that you buy a good guide book before you even start to plan your city breaks. On each page we'll suggest one or two that have helped us get the most out of our city breaks and that you too might consider.
